Savin, Greaves, Camps, Jephcott, Smith and Marquis nominated for GIVEMESPORT Fans’ League One Player of the Month award

Harry Kane

After a strong start, the last month has been packed full of entertainment in League One.

Fans of the EFL’s third tier have been treated to lots of goals, red cards, managerial sackings, and late drama, as well as some sensational individual performances.

Six of the best have been nominated for the GMS Fans’ Player of the Month Award for November and before you vote, we’ve broken down why each has made the list.

Toby Savin – Accrington Stanley

Accrington were phenomenal in November, going unbeaten in League One and taking ten points from four games, and the performances of Savin between the sticks were a key part of why.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper did not concede a single goal in the league last month, keeping four clean sheets and making seven saves during that period.

Savin joined the club as a teenager but has broken through into the first-team this term and certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

Jacob Greaves – Hull City

The Tigers have been excellent since their return to League One and are top of the table as things stand, with a game in hand over the sides below them and one of the best defensive records in the division.

Greaves’ recent emergence has helped them to no end. The 20-year-old has broken into the senior side this term and we’ve seen his quality over the last month.

In November the central defender was dominant for Hull, helping the side go unbeaten as he made five tackles and won 20 aerial duels in his three league games.

Callum Camps – Fleetwood Town

Camps’ excellent start to the 2020/21 campaign continued in November, in fact, if anything the last month has seen him play even better for the Trawlermen.

The attacking midfielder’s constant positivity and intelligence have made him one of Fleetwood’s key men this season, while his quality in the final third has been clear to see.

The 25-year-old found the net four times in League One in November, including a number of rather special goals.

Luke Jephcott – Plymouth Argyle

Another young player that has flourished in November, Jephcott has followed up an outstanding end to last term with an excellent first few months of 2020/21.

The step up to League One doesn’t seem to have had much of an impact on the 20-year-old forward, who found the net three times in League One in November.

His movement and pinpoint finishing have made him a real nuisance for opposition and he only looks to be getting better as time goes on.

Northampton’s physical and direct style of play under Keith Curle helped them secure promotion to League One last term and they’ve been impressive in the third tier since, sitting 14th in the table as things stand.

Smith’s role in that system – leading the line as their number nine – should not be underestimated and he’s been in fantastic form over the past month.

In November, the centre-forward scored three times for the Cobblers and won a mammoth 42 aerial duels. Talk about dominance!

John Marquis – Portsmouth

Marquis’ life at Pompey has not always been easy and he’s certainly drawn a fair amount of criticism from fans in the past but there can be no arguments with his performances over the past month.

The striker is lethal in front of goal when he’s at his best and lethal he has been in November, scoring four times and adding an assist in his four League One appearances.

Portsmouth will be eyeing promotion to the Championship this term and if the 28-year-old can maintain this level, he can surely fire them to the second tier.
