The 2021/22 campaign has been billed as one the most exciting in League One for some time and October certainly didn’t disappoint.
The races for the automatic promotion places and the top six are hotting up, while there are plenty of teams down the bottom that’ll be starting to sweat about the prospect of relegation.
Six of the standout players in the division last month have been named on the FLW Fans’ League One Player of the Month award for October.
Here, we outline their credentials to help you decide how to cast your vote.
Nominee: Ryan Tafazolli
Wycombe didn’t lose a single League One game in October – form that has helped them move within touching distance of the top two and that was thanks in no small part to centre-back Ryan Tafazolli.
The defender proved himself an asset in both boxes for the Chairboys, making a mammoth 55 clearances and scoring three times.
Nominees: Dan Barlaser, Cameron Brannagan, Conor Grant
Rotherham United were in scary form last month – taking 13 points from a possible 15 and scoring 17 goals in the league – and Dan Barlaser’s influence in the middle of the park was vital.
Week after week, the midfielder dictated play for the Millers and was a weapon in the final third – providing three assists and making 14 key passes.
When Cameron Brannagan is on song, Oxford United are very hard to stop and so it proved in October.
Karl Robinson’s side won four of their five League One games to re-establish themselves in the top six, with Brannagan adding two goals and six key passes alongside his tenacious work out of possession.
Plymouth Argyle opened up a gap at the top of the League One table in October, picking up impressive wins against Burton Albion, Oxford, Bolton, and Ipswich Town.
The relentless nature of their play is summed up by midfielder Conor Grant, who looks a different player this term and sparkled last month – providing three goals and an assist.

Paul Cook has no shortage of attacking talent at Ipswich Town but Conor Chaplin was the standout player last month, really coming alive in the role behind the striker.
Chaplin bagged three goals and an assist in October as he helped the Tractor Boys take 10 points from a possible 15 to rise up the League One table.
James McClean is fast looking like a supreme bit of business for Wigan Athletic and his top-flight pedigree was on show throughout October.
He proved impossible to handle for opposition defences last month, scoring four times and providing two assists.
